Story of Strength
“In my mind the fight’s already won. You begin where you want it to end. That is most of the battle.”
I have been gearing up for my hike by reading several books about backpacking and hiking. The one that has really resonated with me is Wild by Cheryl Strayed. This passage is what I love.
“I knew that if I allowed fear to overtake me, my journey was doomed. Fear, to a great extent, is born of a story we tell ourselves, and so I chose to tell myself a different story from the one women are told. I decided I was safe. I was strong. I was brave. Nothing could vanquish me.”
I have had this chanting through my head for weeks. I am what I believe. So I choose to believe that I am on the right path, I will be strong and accomplish what I set out to do. The difference is amazing. I have more energy, I want to be up and moving, striving toward my goal because that is where I already am.
