Mage Book 2

Starting to work on the sequel to The Mage’s Daughter. Now that I have the publication details worked out it’s time to get rolling on the next book 😉 I already have the entire thing outlines and the first few chapters written but as the first novel showed, these things are fluid and can change massively once you get writing.

It is amazing the amount of details you have to rework in a series of novels. I don’t want to do an information dump in the first chapter but it has to make sense that if someone picks up the second book without reading the first book. Do you use flashbacks or just pull in the information in dialog as the story progresses? I have never been a big fan of massive blocks of back story so I am trying to keep the regurgitation to a minimum. There is an amazing amount of information in the first book however and trying to hint at details or back story is quickly fleshing out scenes I had not imagined using. The editing of this one is going to be interesting since I will need to keep the detail without utterly bogging down the reader, ugh. Let the fun begin 😉

Listen. Do not have an opinion while you listen because frankly, your opinion doesn’t hold much water outside of Your Universe. Just listen. Listen until their brain has been twisted like a dripping towel and what they have to say is all over the floor. – Hugh Elliott
