Date and Walnut Bread

Yesterday I made Date and Walnut bread. It turned out amazing, moist and wonderfully chunky with date and walnuts. I used the recipe from Martha Stewart‘s Cookbook. Honestly, I hate her show and the way she speaks down to everyone around her but the recipes are sound.

  1. 2 cups flour

  2. 1 cup walnuts

  3. 1 cup dates

  4. 1 cup milk

  5. 1 egg

  6. 3/4 tsp salt

  7. 1 tsp vanilla

  8. 1 tsp baking power

  9. 1 cup sugar

  10. 3 tsp melted butter

Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl; add sugar. Stir in oats and dates. In a separate small bowl, beat egg with milk; stir in melted butter and vanilla. Add to flour mixture and stir until evenly moist. Pour mixture into a greased 9 X 5 X 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in center. Once the loaf has cooled, wrap and store overnight for best flavor. *May omit baking powder and salt if using self-rising flour.

Based the recipe here off of the site below since I did not have time to find it in my cookbook and could not find one for the exact recipe online. Will adjust the recipe to be completely correct in a few days.
