Silver Borne (Mercedes Thompson #5) by Patricia Briggs

When mechanic and shapeshifter Mercy Thompson attempts to return a powerful Fae book she’d previously borrowed in an act of desperation, she finds the bookstore locked up and closed down.

It seems the book contains secret knowledge-and the Fae will do just about anything to keep it out of the wrong hands. And if that doesn’t take enough of Mercy’s attention, her friend Samuel is struggling with his wolf side-leaving Mercy to cover for him, lest his own father declare Sam’s life forfeit.

All in all, Mercy has had better days. And if she isn’t careful, she might not have many more to live…

I am just about finished with this one. As with the rest of the series it is a quick but engrossing read. I love the character Mercy who is a coyote shape-shifter having to live among the fey and werewolves while working as a human mechanic. This is a woman who is willing to give her life for her friends. She is willing to drop everything and help someone she cares about. Yes, her life is complicated since she is a shape-shifter and is dating a werewolf, but she is also human and has the same problems in dating that everyone else has. It is the human side of the character that has me coming back to this series and awaiting every book that comes out. Highly recommend this one.
